What is a Medicare Advantage Plan ANOC?
Everyone that has a Medicare Advantage Plan either an HMO, PPO, or some other type of plan, needs to know about the ANOC. They receive an ANOC (Annual Notice of Change) for the plan each fall. This allows you to review the changes that have been made. This also gives you the ability to review and compare other plans during the AEP (Annual Election Period.) The AEP runs from October 15th to December 7th each year and you can make as many changes as you want, however the last change you make before December 7 at midnight will be the plan you have starting January 1 of the following year.
This is a list of some of the changes that might take place.
- Drug costs may have changed.
- Drug formulary may have changed (your drugs may no longer be covered.)
- Network changes (your doctors, hospital, or medical group may have left the plan.)
- Your benefits, such as vision, dental, etc… may have changed or have been removed.
- Your copays and coinsurance may have changed.
- Your maximum out-of-pocket may have changed.
Conclusion:
Many people do not read their ANOC. They just file it. There are many changes taking place with Medicare that you should be aware of. We recommend you read your Annual Notice of Change.
