Qualify for Extra Help on Premiums for Part D

Date

Who can qualify for extra help on LIS (Low Income Subsidy) for the cost of Part D drug plans? If you have Part A and Part B and meet the income and resource limits, you could qualify. How does it help with the cost of Part D? Your premium subsidy for Part D could be between 25% to 100%. If you have both Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) you may also receive savings on the cost of the drugs. If you are being charged a penalty for late Part D enrollment, LIS may reduce or even eliminate the penalty.
